Minerva Punjab AFC Announce Bonus For India U17’s Four Minerva Players

India U17 team will take field tomorrow against Ghana in a bid to qualify for the round of 16. India need atleast a win with two goal difference to qualify. The Blue Colts have played Defensive Counter Attacking brand of football in the last two games. They had their moments against Colombia but luck was just not on their side. For this hard work they have done in the past two years, they are paid a mere ₹100/day.

Minerva Punjab AFC’s four players are in this 21-man Squad for the ongoing U17 World Cup. Ranjit Bajaj owner of MPFC, decided to wake the authorities by announcing ₹50 thousand as Bonus for the Minerva Players playing in this Squad. Mr.Bajaj tweeted “@Minerva_AFC announces a rs fifty thousand bonus for all our kids playing at the wc (World Cup) representing our country/ashamed that it took great… reporting by @thefield_in for me to notice the immediate need /it’s not much but atleast all they will not have 2worry (to worry) abt (about) daily wages”.

For a team playing in the World Cup, training hard for the past two years in different Countries away from their families, the sum does not look handsome enough. Most of the players hail from a poor background and are the helping hand of their families to earn some money in a bit to survival.

AIFF are now planning to bind all the players to the Indian Arrows Squad which will compete in the I-League from next month. All these players have received top class training and alot of International Clubs and ISL clubs are ready to sign these players even on high sums. AIFF have to increase their pay from next month or alteast give them bonuses for their hard work.
