India pulled out a comfortable 2-0 win against Maldives to topped the group in on going 2018 SAFF Championship.
Nikhil Poojary opened the account for India in the 36th minutes with lovely one-two football with Faruk who provided him a tap-in pass which Nikhil slotted pass opponent goalkeeper Faisal with composure to give India a 1-0 lead. India doubled the lead a minute before half time with the courtesy of Manvir Singh who drilled past goalkeeper to make it a simple finish at the end. All credit goes to playmaker Anirudh Thapa’s hard work who provided a beautiful through ball to Manvir.

Earlier tonight, Stephen Constantine made five changes from their 2-0 win against Sri Lanka. Davinder Singh, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Vinit Rai, Nikhil Poojary and Manvir Singh made their way in to the starting XI in place for Sarthak Golui, Mohammed Sajid Dhot, Germanpreet Singh, Ashique Kuruniyan and Sumeet Passi.
India controlled the game through most of the ball possession in Maldives’s half and managed to put 7 shots on target while the defense stood still and cleared away all dying moment efforts from Maldives. Reminder, India yet to concede a goal in this SAFF Championship in Bangladesh. India to play Pakistan next in heated semifinal.
