Semi Final 1

Aizawl FC vs Bengaluru FC

AIZAWL FC : Indian Champions Aizawl FC have been in a dream run after their historic I-League Winning Run. Although, Federation  Cup was a different ball game, Khalid Jamil’s Tactics were spot on.

Starting the Fed Cup with a 2-0 trail to scousers Chennai City FC at half time in the first match. Khalid’s Red Army turned the tables to slot in three goals and show what the Champions are made of in an explosive fashion.

A Late Goal against  Churchill Brothers secured their second win in the Cup and also enabled them to qualify for the Semis.

Khalid fielded a second string side against Mighty East Bengal and it turned out to be a match of misses and a frustrating outing for East Bengal who themselves were qualified courtesy results elsewhere.

The Young Mizo side held on to relentless offensives by East Bengal and managed to steal a point to top the group.

BENGALURU FC : After a disappointing I-League season and losses to South Asian Sides in the AFC Cup, Bengaluru FC Coach was in a tense position before the Federation Cup. Certain section of Media also reported that if Roca doesnt manage to win the Cup for them, he would face an axe.

Riding on the luck of missing Penalties from Lajong, Bengaluru FC managed a sloppy 3-2 win in their opening clash.

Bengaluru FC got a major setback after a clinical performance from DSK Shivajians got them down 2-0 to make the Group Wide Open.

Bengaluru hold on Champions Mohun Bagan by 1-1 and qualified for the Hero Fed Cup Semi-Finals courtesy favourable results elsewhere.

Semi Final 2

Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal

Mohun Bagan : Mohun Bagan after falling 1 point short of winning the League Title were determined to get some glory by getting the League

Cup. They made it evident by some explosive performances in the Group Stage.

Mohun Bagan started in a great fashion by a thumping 4-0 win over DSK Shivajians and latched on a 3-2 win in an exciting encounter against Shillong Lajong even after trailing courtesy a Pritam Kotal Own Goal at the opening moments of the match.

Mohun Bagan were held 1-1 by Bengaluru FC in a tense encounter for the Blues which resulted in automatic qualification for Both the teams.

East Bengal : After yet another disappointing League Campaign, East Beng were desperate to get things right and get their lost glory back by some silverware.

East Bengal started the Fed Cup campaign with a nervy performance against Churchill Brothers with a 1-1 draw.

East Bengal got their first victory with an unconvincing performance over Chennai City FC by a scoreline of 2-0.

East Bengal dominated the second string Aizawl Side but misses by Plaza and Rafique resulted them in getting just 1 point against a tactical Aizawl Side.

East Bengal qualified before the Aizawl game due to results elsewhere as well.

A Confident Aizawl side would host a rebuilt Bengaluru Side in quench for Cup Glory which could be a tough affair for both the sides.

A depleted East Bengal side would play on-song Mohun Bagan in the Biggest Match of Indian Club Football with the stadium packed to each seat. As Odds are against East Bengal, but anything can happen in a Derby so it would not be wise to predict.
