FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 Football Player TRANSFER CENTRE

All Eyes On ‘Amazing’ Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem

India U-17 goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem is said to be in the radar of three foreign clubs, who are interested in his signatures after a marvelous performance in the recent U-17 World Cup.

The player was one of the great findings of the world cup for the host country, and was watched by many scouts from different clubs around the globe and was appreciated due to his excellent display between the sticks.

The Indian team lost all of their 3 games in the world cup, but still put in some good display of football, which would not make the fans disappointed, but happy with them.

Dheeraj has a contract remaining with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) till 31st December this year and would only be able to move on afterwards, in the January transfer window, if he chooses not to stay with the team.

According to a report by the TOI, clubs from Brazil, Australia and Scotland are interested in the player. Brazilian 1st division side Avai FC, Hamilton Academical from Scotland and Melbourne City FC from Australia which is the sister club of Manchester City of England are the clubs that have currently offered him a contract, says the report.

Interests have also come from the USA and England, but the ineligibility due to the national team’s ranking stood as an obstacle on the player moving to leagues of higher standards.

“We are in discussions with an ISL franchise and Dheeraj should join them no sooner the contract comes to an end. There is an understanding with the franchise that they will allow Dheeraj to move outside the country, should there be a good-enough offer,” said Dheeraj’s agent Anuj Kichlu, reports TOI.

“There was interest from several others too but eligibility rules are a big hurdle. We need to make sure that Dheeraj is playing and not just making up the numbers somewhere. If he doesn’t get game time in the ISL, he will either play abroad or with AIFF XI on loan” said Kichlu.

Dheeraj, who is currently at Saudi Arabia with the national U-19 side for the AFC Cup U-19 qualifiers, would only make a decision after his return added Anuj.
