Chennaiyin FC have signed Mizoram trio consisting of Isaac Vansmalsawma, Zohmingliana Ralte and Laldinliana Renthiei on a two-year deals. Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC has acquired the services of former FC Pune City, Bengaluru FC and Chhinga Veng FC after the expiry of their contracts.
Chennaiyin FC are building a strong side ahead of their Indian Super League (ISL) and as well as AFC competitions. John Gregory’s side signed Srinivasan Pandiyan from Chennai City FC as their first signing of the season after which Neroca FC’s Tondonba Singh, 23-year-old left back was also signed.
After a successive Indian Super League, Chennaiyin FC released eight players from their squad on 1st of June. Bikramjit Singh, Keenan Almeida, Jude Nworuh, Fulganco Cardozo, Sanjay Balmuchu, Pawan Kumar and Shahin Lal Meloli with Dhanachandra Singh parted ways with the club. After releasing two goalkeepers, Chennaiyin FC announced the signing of Sanjiban Ghosh from Jamshedpur and Nikhil Bernard from Gokulam Kerala FC.
These three new signings will be crucial for the champions and will also provide depth to the side as well. Zohmingliana Ralte will bring loads of experience to the Chennaiyin FC. The 27-year-old defender has experience playing in both I League and ISL as well. Zohmingliana has also played in AFC Cup games which will be additional boost to the side who is yet to play first game in AFC Competitions. Laldinliana Renthlei,19, played for Aizawl FC last season on loan from Chhinga Veng FC and made 18 appearances for his side. The versatile defender also played four AFC Cup competition games representing Aizawl.
With this Isaac from FC Pune City will provide some attacking midfield options for John Gregory. Chennaiyin FC retained 13 players from their previous squad including Gregory Nelson, Mailson Alves and Raphael Augusto.
